Never punish a dog when it responds to a recall command because if you do, it will assume that each time you call it, it will get a punishment and may fail to respond the next time you call it. If your dog is exhibiting an undesirable behavior, go over to it and punish it. Dogs learn by associating their actions to yours.
Dog Health Issues
Dogs are non-verbal creatures while human beings are verbal creatures. Dogs basically communicate what they feel by wagging their tails, moaning, whining, barking or biting. Humans need to learn how to tell their dogs what they want through both verbal and non verbal language.
Walk your dog before you begin training it so as to help loosen up. In walking your dog, don’t let it walk beside you or in front of you if you want to establish a master/ follower relationship. Always ensure that your dog walks behind you so that it knows who the boss is.
Stop Barking Dogs
Make sure that you get all the members of your household involved in the dog training session so that they too will be able to exercise some form of authority and control over your dog too. If you are the only person your dog listens to, when you are away, other people at home will not to be able to exert some form of control over it and that can cause problems.
A dog can send out a variety of signals to its handler and it is up to the handler to receive and interpret those signals properly. Misreading the signals that your dog sends to you during its training can bungle the training up. A dog can signal non-verbally to you that it is unsure, afraid, tired or nervous.
Stop Dogs from Biting
A dog will be able to respond to a command if you use it more often. Consistency in dog training helps your dog to respond positively to your commands. Hand signals and body language are all part of the communicative tools used by dog trainer to train a dog.
The extent to which you are successful as a dog handler depends on your ability to get your dog to understand you and your commands. More often than not, commands that dogs don’t respond to are those that are not clear. If you want your dog to respond favorably to your commands, try not to get your wires crossed.
Part of training your dog is to let it know when it has done something wrong. You use consistent words to let your dog know when it was blundered such as ‘try again’ or oh-oh. Make sure that your dog knows when it has done right or wrong.
